Meeting of 4-26-2010

This was the final meeting of the season. Not much going on in the snowmobile world right now. Spring is here and people want to get outdoors. I know we started mowing the grass already and many gardens are being prepared all around us.

One topic that was discussed was ways for us to possibly raise some funds this summer. We would like to get involved with locals and do some charity events. Also we'd like to get going on some club sponsored meals. Maybe weekend dinners or breakfast. We need to develop a new image and we want to show people we are a integral part of this fine community.

Another topic that was brought up was this website itself. While we try to keep it completely free, there are some costs of a domain name. A mere $10.00 a year for an actual web address people can type into their browsers, or search engines. As we stand now it looks like the title will be something along the lines of:
www.carmelsc.com or .net. Either way it was approved and I will continue posting here on behalf of the Carmel Snowmobile Club.

Finally we discussed the fact of the backside of the clubhouse needs to be re-roofed. Any volunteers that can spare a few hours of their time are welcomed to contact any officer of the club. You may also email me at: Admin@getneds.com
If you have any materials you'd like to donate or tools to complete the job we would appreciate that kind of help too. (Ladders, Compressors,Screw guns, Screws, etc.) Anything that we find we'll use as anything else must come out of the general fund.

As far as memberships go don't forget to renew starting September 1st, 2010. We will accept renewals and new applicants until Jan 1st, 2010. We are always looking for new members. If you have any friends or family who'd like to join us in the fun next year, send them down. Next season we'd like to organize a few rides, some shorter, some longer. We want to get this club in full swing next year, and invite anyone who wants in on the fun to come join us.

Don't forget to subscribe on the left side of the page to recieve emails when we update.

The news letter will be issued very soon.

Meeting of 4-12-10

Well the meeting was short and sweet this week, I have to say what a disappointment it is to see lack of support. Only three active members showed up, along with all five officers. I am starting to see there is a lack of commitment from the members of the club. I would like to be the first to say we want to build this club back up, and make it a strong staple within the Carmel community. 5 people can't do that alone, and as active members I feel we have a certain level of responsibility. I understand that everyone can't make it to every meeting, but I think lack of participation will lead to a devastating demise. We need this club to be a more of a "go getter" as opposed to a "sit and wait". Keep in mind most of our goals and intrests revolve around our active membership, and we'd like to keep that going.

It was mentioned there is a shortage of volunteers for the kitchen on Bingo night(Wednesdays). We have the regular crew but they should get relief once and a while. I volunteered to help out, again taking the initiative. I don't mind helping out. We would like to have a few more people sign up to relieve others from there duties from time to time. I think if we could find three to four people for each position it wouldn't be such a chore to maintain bingo night. Let's not forget, Bingo is what practically saved the club. It keeps the association running, especially in the summer months when no one is riding through.

We also covered the topic of having our meetings on a different night of the week, We are looking for ideas and suggestions for that. Mondays I understand are the same days the town of Carmel has their meetings at town hall. If this is the case, we are in competition with the wrong folks on the wrong night. Many, many people would rather be at town meetings. Hey, we understand that and this will be something we all can vote on this coming fall. We can start putting ideas out there now and have a general idea where we're heading later this year.

Keep an eye out for the monthly newsletter. From this point forward there will be multiple channels to obtain information. For one this website/blog was approved by the club as a legitimate avenue to relay information to the active membership, along with anyone else who would like to know more about what we do. We also will continue sending out the newsletter in snail mail format through the post office, for those who don't have access to a computer. You can also stop down by the club on wednesdays to talk to someone about current events. I strongly reccommend subscribing to this blog for update. You will automatically recieve emails whenever new information is available. Your email is safe as we will never use it for personal gains. Only legitamite updates on topics related to the assosiation. Please sign up, and please, please comment on topics as we would like to know what your thinking and feeling about such topics. Like I said before, we want to bring this club back to it's active state, and participate in community events.

Call any of the above to nominate any one for officers/directors position.

As all should know the snowmobile trails had a short life this year. Work cutting out limbs, looking and preparing to straighten dangerous corners, and some patch work on some bridges were done.

The Etna trail drag operator came to a meeting to find out if trails are still going where he remembers the trail master conversed with him. He also said if there was any help needed he would try to help, but we have to have trails 14' wide and mild sweeping corners, because he's 40' long when connected to a drag.

There are some new ideas on some trail location. We will need landowner permission and most are willing to help in the work. The bridge behind the chicken barn is in the proccess to be replaced. The trail master and land owner's are looking into permits & paperwork needed to do this.

There was mention about by-law changes and/or replace existing ones. All interested parties will compare and review, then bring ideas to the next meeting.

There are new faces with good intention on what the club can do. There was talk about equipment storing at the club again. There is an insurance issue with placing fuel equipment in a public place occupied building (Beano and club rentals). There's more life safety equipment to be installed than expected.

Club meetings ar the 2nd and 4th Monday every month.

Beano is Wednesdays 6:30 PM
(we need Helpers and players).
